Our Story
Comfortable, private accommodation in the middle of Thamel
Hotel Yak and Trek Thamel sits at Chhaya Center, Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal, a few steps from Thamel Chowk and a short walk from Kathmandu Durbar Square. Travellers have used Thamel as their starting point in the Kathmandu Valley for decades: some are gearing up for a trek, others are out exploring the old city's temples and courtyards, and plenty are just passing through. Whatever brings you here, our hotel gives you a quiet, comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day.
Each of our nine rooms is privately en-suite, with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, an electric kettle, and free Wi-Fi. We keep three room types on hand for different group sizes: the Deluxe Double for couples or solo travellers, the Deluxe Double with Extra Bed for three people sharing, and the Deluxe Family Room for families or friends travelling together.
Downstairs, our ground-floor café and restaurant serves vegetarian, vegan, and Asian breakfast options, plus breakfast-to-go if you need an early start for a trek briefing or a flight. Between the 24-hour front desk, room service, and airport shuttle, the practical side of your stay is taken care of.
